TJN has worked together with ENLIGHTEN, a collaborative project concerned with the legitimacy of European governance in dealing with what “fast and slow-burning crises.” Fast burning crises are readily identified – political and economic shocks, which have provided direct challenges to European institutions and their governance. Slow-burning crises are less obvious yet no less important. The political, social, and economic challenges are long-term and widespread, but do not generate immediate political attention.
Our Finance Curse analysis, which we have produced in collaboration with Duncan Wigan of Copenhagen Business School, and with ENLIGHTEN funding, provides a fresh and fruitful window into the financial system.
ENLIGHTEN is a collaborative research project coordinated at the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and brings together researchers from CBS as well as the University of Amsterdam, the Central European University and Université Libre de Bruxelles, as well as non-academic partners in Tax Justice Network, European Trade Union Confederation, Finance Watch and Housing Europe.
