Nick Shaxson ■ Quote of the day: City of London and the drugs trade

Fresh from our brief discussion of the explosive documentary From Russia with Cash, we have a quote of the day from Roberto Saviano, an expert on the Italian crime organisation Camorra, via The Indendent:
“The British treat it as not their problem because there aren’t corpses on the street.”
Another line from this story that we could have used as our quote of the day was this:
“Mr Saviano said of the international drugs trade that “Mexico is its heart and London is its head”.
Or we could have highlighted the fact that the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) said the extent of money laundering through UK institutions constituted a
“strategic threat to the UK’s economy and reputation.”
You can say that again.
