HSBC bank has just been caught red-handed helping some of the world’s mega-rich dodge taxes! We’d go to prison for this, but governments are treating these powerful people like they’re too big to jail. Let’s show them they’re not.

Our governments are losing $3 trillion a year to tax dodging — enough to end extreme world poverty many times over! This leak is the biggest in banking history — if we don’t seize it now to get prosecutions, we may never get a chance like this again.

UK finance minister Osborne faces an imminent election, while US Attorney General Lynch is yet to be confirmed in her new job. They’re both very sensitive to the public right now, so our million-strong call, delivered via ads and with legislators, could get them to investigate, prosecute, and send the tax-dodging elite a powerful signal: no one is too big to jail!

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION

To UK Chancellor George Osborne, US Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch, finance ministers and prosecutors:

Evidence published all over the world shows how HSBC helped criminals and the super rich hide their money and evade taxes, leaving the rest of us to pay for public services. We demand that you investigate and prosecute the bankers who facilitated tax dodging and their clients who enriched themselves at our expense, and tighten our tax laws to stop this happening again.

It is time that our government prosecuted those parasites who take advantage of the facilities and services paid for by us, the taxpayers, while moving money that could be working in the UK economy to offshore accounts.

Simply, I am appalled that governments in the Western World have decided to sit on their hands or turn blind eyes. I have to ask, why have they not acted?
The answer seems to me that the same tax dodgers have used PR lobbyists to face their democratic government and cajoled them into favourable behaviours for the dodgers. I see Lord Green has decided to put down his lobbying voice. Now lets see many others do the same thing.
Come on democratic representatives DO SOMETHING for the little man for once.

There is a perception that the rich can get away with massive financial misdealings with little or no penalty. The common people however, are herded before the Courts like criminals, for fiddling a few quid on their benefits, and are often sent to prison. Why should THEY get away with it?

I think people should have the rights to choose wheather to pay tax or not. We stuggle to live as it is and we dont get nothing in return nor any help when its needed, plus every think we do is taxed. We rob a bank we’ll be put behind bars but yet we work hard to make a living for our selfs but yet the government has the rights to take the money we earn to send over seas, i think he should think more about britian instead of other countries.
Its like car tax, £485 a year for my car. Massives jump from what it used to be.
Think the government should leave our money alone. And stop being so greedy, this country seems to like the word (tax).

And think us british need to put our foot down NOW. I work and find a huge chunk comes out for the NI, Tax and pension. Leave our money alone mr government. We work for not you. And stop putting tax up on our cars, this is Britian NOT USA
so trying to be like USA….

If the banks can get away with tax evasion, get rewarded with insanely high bonuses then I reserve my right to refuse to pay off my HSBC overdraft that has taken me 3+years to pay off which was 95% fee!! Let’s do what the Icelandics have done-arrest the bankers and politicians and get real people in power for democracy!!
